This is a big victrola. does it play the new tapes and records?
Overall, I love my 8002, but if you purchase this model, be aware that there is a pretty major bug in the Audyssey EQ system and the subwoofer. You can do more research on the web to find the answer to that. Also, my 8002 (purchased in Asia) doesn’t have the higher-end speaker plugs in the back, so you do have to mess with bare wire. If you purchased used, be sure to clarify what speaker posts are on the unit, as apparently, some may differ.

It looks like every other bland receiver that you can pick up at Circuit City. I do agree that both the current and last design of HK look sharp.
Marantz looks great. I like the look of HK products too. Pretty much everything else looks like crap.
Why does Marantz (like so many other receivers) look so bad. Seriously, update the look. It’s not 1994…
