Is it possile to connect the Home theater in a box’s reciever/dvd player into a separate home theater receiver in order to add speakers.

You could connect the Stereo Sound Line Output of your HT-in-a-box to a Line In of your second receiver. You will have sound on all speakers. DD 5.1 on the HTB speakers and Stereo on the other Receiver’s speakers. If the other receiver is also 5.1 you could connect the Optical or Coaxial out from your HTB to the corresponding input of your other 5.1 receiver. You will then get DD 5.1 through ALL speakers. Of course, you get 5.1 if the source program is outputting 5.1.
