I bought an upconverting toshiba DVD player with HDMI cable and it was only
your TV source(satellite or cable) should also use HDMI, it is uncompressed digital signal which is better than an analog signal that has to be converted.

since you already spent the big money on the TV, you should get video inputs for it that can utilize it fully.
