Answer by Maniac
As with everything you get what you pay for. There really is no such thing as a “good home theater system”. If you want good quality you have to avoid these all in one systems and get individual components. You can not do this for . Even a cheap receiver of any quality at all is going to be 0. A decent powered sub another 0 or more, decent speakers about the same plus a player. It’s hard to put together even the most basic system for under 00.

That thing from Amazon is likely to sound worse than whatever speakers are built into your TV. It definitely isn’t going to have wall shaking bass. Don’t waste your money, start saving now and build up enough cash to get something you can really enjoy.

Best answer:

Answer by HaloFan
I’ve purchased from Crutchfield, OneCall, and Vann’s and they’re all legitimate. Another really good one is www.bhphoto.com and also try eBay. I just bought a brand new iPod touch on eBay for 0 less than the Apple Store.

And for audio/video cables, flat panel mounts, routers, switches, misc. home theater, etc. I wouldn’t buy anything without looking at www.monoprice.com first. Ridiculously cheap mounts and HDMI cables. And the bible of all consumer electronics is www.cnet.com.

For the past 18 years, Seattle’s Definitive Audio has hosted their annual Home Theater Experience, a 2 day event featuring new product demos and visits from representatives of some of the high-end audio and video industry’s leading manufacturers. This year, Wilson Audio’s John Giolas and Jerron Marchant introduced participants to the new Sophia Series 3 loudspeaker.

Answer by Jorge
For less than 00 you can get a pretty decent in a box surround, not 2.1, you can get a good 5.1, and even better a 7.1 surround sound. I recommend you to look at Onkyo at Amazon.com, they have nice selection there, Onkyo is very good( I own) and Amazon is a reliable site to shop with great customer service , gonna send you some links.

Experience enhanced home theater sound from almost anything you watch—with greater simplicity than traditional five-speaker surround systems. The 3·2·1 GS Series III DVD home entertainment system delivers cinematic 2.1-channel sound with just two Gemstone® speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass® module. The system includes an elegant media center featuring a progressive scan DVD/CD player with HDMI output and AM/FM tuner.

visit svssubwoofer.org A review and comparison about svs sugwoofers such as SVS PB12 Plus Home tehater subwoofer system. 2 technics 15′ woofers, comparable mid/tweets, nd this awesome twin 12″ BASH powered set of subs. The test tones in this video were between 10 and 25 cycles. One of my canned lights above rattled loose during filming (not a joke). I also shook one of my IASCA trophies from my fireplace mantle where it broke on the marble below. my home subwoofer, low level frequencys.
Answer by Phil M
Good BluRay player, good receiver, good speakers, VCR (if you still have VHS tapes), game console, 7.1 surround sound. TV. Go with the best. Dont be afraid to spend more up front for a system that you will be happy with for a longer time.

I’m looking for an entry level home theater receiver. I’m not an audiophile and I don’t need something great. My only requirement is that I want it to have real HDMI audio conversion capabilities – not HDMI passthrough.

I was looking at the Onkyo TX-SR576 which runs about 0. But I also don’t know what else is out there or what is a good value.

Is this a good option? Are there other things to consider?

Best answer:

Answer by Colorful L
That is a good option and good price.Another good one that I suggest is Denon AVR-589 375-Watt 5.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver.

The Monster Power Home theatre PowerCenter HT 700 is equipped with Monster’s fast acting, high capacity 1850 Joule SurgeGuard circuitry which instantly detects any voltage surge or spike and immediately suppresses it before it can even reach your components. Monster’s Dual Mode Plus Auto Disconnect safety feature prevents catastrophic, high voltage powered disturbances from damaging your components.
